Meat processing

VION Fresh Meat is a major producer and supplier of fresh pork to clients in the Netherlands and abroad. VION Fresh Meat products include hams, shoulders, meat for bacon, consumer products and other meat products. We also supply carcasses to Dutch and foreign clients. Custom processing pork to our clients' specifications is one of our core activities. Almost all parts of the pig are used. Our production sites all specialise in particular areas to a greater or lesser extent.

Processing for industry At the plants in Druten and Boxtel, we cut the different parts of the pig to size for our own different VION sites, where products for supermarkets are produced, as well as for our industrial clients in the Netherlands and abroad.
In Helmond we only slaughter 'Welfare Pigs’. The 'middles’ (middle parts) harvested from those pigs are sent to VION sites where the meat is used to make bacon.
Pigs slaughtered in Apeldoorn, Groenlo and Meppel are shipped to domestic and foreign clients as carcass or cuts of meat.

Processing for bacon
At our sites in Beuningen, Doetinchem and Scherpenzeel we process the middles (the middle section) of pigs. A pig's 'middle’ gives us bacon, bellies, belly ends, rinds, trimmed belly pork and tenderloins. These products are sold to different specific clients in different countries.
Our bacon production is centred at our Beuningen, Doetinchem or Scherpenzeel site. Only pork that meets the strict requirements set by British retailers is used in our bacon production.

Processing for retail
At our Groenlo and Schijndel sites, VION Retail produces ready-made meat products for supermarket organisations.
Encebe Vleeswaren is a subsidiary of VION Convenience. Encebe produces meat products for retail and industry.
 

Ballering Export
For many years, Ballering has enjoyed an excellent reputation within the pigmeat sector as a sow abattoir. The purchase department of Ballering targets the European market for sows and boars. The slaughtered animals are carefully processed in our own processing facility to manufacture quality products. These are supplied to the international meat processing products industry. In addition to an extensive range of meat products, Ballering also offers many kinds of fat products. The company specialises in the production of barding fat, lard and cubed fat.
