Distribution
Meat must be kept cool at all time. The refrigeration chain is one of the most important parts of meat distribution, requiring special attention. Optimum meat quality can only be preserved at the right temperatures. The temperature of the meat is not allowed to go above 7° C during handling and processing. Carcasses, cuts of meat and meat products are loaded in an air-conditioned (cold) environment. Lorries are also refrigerated. All necessary steps are taken to maintain the temperature in the refrigeration chain at 4° C. Lorries' cooling systems are already running before loading, and will stay on throughout the entire journey. The temperature can be monitored by the driver from his cab.
Our meat distribution partner is Distrifresh. Around 1000 supermarkets are supplied with meat through a dense distribution network. Meat distribution is combined with the distribution of other fresh products. This reduces the burden on the environment, and helps to solve traffic problems on the roads, in shopping centres and town centres.
Our closed cold chain ensures that at no point during transit does the meat come into contact with warm outside air. This way, optimum microbial quality is ensured.
