Does VION Food Netherlands work with temporary staff?
VION Food Netherlands has many permanent employees. We also work with temporary staff. Depending on the season and/or our customers' orders we may require more or fewer employees. A proportion of our employees are therefore engaged on a temporary basis. We operate with Dutch as well as foreign temporary employees.
We provide good training and good working conditions. We want our employees to be proud of their work and the high quality products they produce.

How does VION set environmental objectives?
We endeavour to achieve the best possible balance between ‘Profit’, ‘People’ and ‘Planet’. Consequently, we make a commitment to society to operate in a socially responsible manner. There is no future without nature. Our production methods therefore are not only efficient but also environmentally friendly. In addition, we strongly advocate in favour of ethically responsible production conditions throughout the entire chain. We set our environmental objectives based on these considerations.

Heating and cooling consume a lot of energy. How do you use energy?
Cold and heat play an important role throughout the production process. By properly insulating rooms, we can keep them at the desired temperature. This means we do not constantly need to provide additional cooling or heating. Employees are reminded to close doors at strategically located positions. In many of our sites the doors close automatically.

How much organic and conventional pork does VION Food Netherlands produce?
We have four quality concepts at VION Food Netherlands that are geared to the demand from our customers. Most customers ask for Good Farming Retail and Good Farming Welfare. The market for organic pork is small but is slowly growing. Approximately 1% of the total pork production of VION Food Netherlands is organic meat. We consider all our quality concepts to be a valuable part of our pork range.

Is VION a supporter of organic pork?
Our view is that pork must always be produced in a responsible way. We also base our production on the different requirements of our buyers and consumers. That is why we offer both organic and conventional pork.

What does VION mean?
VION is not an abbreviation. It is a word in which the concepts of innovation, development, nature and life are 'hidden'. All these elements relate to our activities. The word acquires even more significance in combination with VION's logo and mission.
