The pig farmer is an important link in the production chain. Indeed, the basis for the ultimate quality of the meat lies in the farmyard. Things which do not go well at this stage of the chain cannot be corrected. Pig farmers are highly conscious of the responsibility they bear for this.

Farmingnet is an information system for the pig farmer. It functions via the Internet. The pig farmer can use Farmingnet to specify an overview of the pigs he is to supply. The system quickly and clearly links the slaughter details back to the pig farmer. From the slaughter details the pig farmer can see whether anything is out of order. Farmingnet is thus an excellent way of improving quality, operational management and the bottom line.
The pig farmer has direct visibility, for example, of the weights and meat percentages of delivered animals. He can also obtain additional information, for example on departmental performance. Together with the VION Farming employee, the breeder, the dealer, the veterinary surgeon or the feed information officer, the pig farmer can set about using the data to improve his bottom line. Farmingnet has been operational in digital form since 2005. Every connected pig farmer can declare his pigs up to two weeks in advance by means of Farmingnet Declaration. Slaughter information can be viewed and analysed using Farmingnet on the day after delivery. An additional advantage is that the paperwork is greatly reduced for pig farmers. Finally, at the same time the pig farmer automatically supplies information about the feed and the use of veterinary medicines. This is not only important for the chain approval that VION Food Netherland uses. It also means that the pig farmer and VION Food Netherlands comply with the legal obligation to provide food chain information.

This continuous information stream and data exchange raise the overall quality of production and products to an ever higher level and help the pig farmer to optimise the way he runs his business.
